it has been a memorable year for the luv shack. release after release, props after props, watching the guys build on a solid foundations and take it up a notch each time. if you listen to their first release (again), and then this new release, you will see just how far they have travelled in such a small time frame. and yes, it started with a couple of mini compilations and eps to see what the reaction would be. the reaction was good, actually no, the reaction was great, the right jocks took to the guys and the early eps and hence since, the luv shack posse have been locked up in a studio ever since. they have been productive, and more to the point, excelling in that production. it is going to be a brilliant 2013.

lets play house finishes its first full year with its 12th release, which, like the first—runaways indoor pool ep—features one original track and three remixes. the a1 comes courtesy of river & phoenix, a new nom de disque of australias young edits. earlier in 2012, he released his debut ep—castle rock—on editainment, hence the playful moniker. this song, however, is not an edit.

hence number ten comes in a nice 10inch format. and again a new artist is on board! essay is his name and hes from heidelberg. additionally the two exceptional artists nocow and desolate are contributing two fantastic remixes as a thank you for an awesome collaboration with fauxpas musik. vocals are coming from stunning norwegian singer ida dillan. vinyl tastes better

following the great reception of hiverned 01 here is the second installment of hiverns edit series. in the a side, tbs >invitation to love<, a highly anticipated track that is finally released after becoming a fixture in john talabots sets. based on twin peaks osts >laura palmers theme<, the track rephrases angelo badalamentis clas- sic from an acid house perspective. adding analog rhythms and a crispy bassli- ne to the ethereal chords of the original composition, this refix manages to keep the dream-like atmospheres of the song while transforming it into dancefloor- ready groove. the idea is simple, the results are magic. on the flip, marc pinol repeats appearance on the series revamping some lost australian minimal-wave track. in the vein of his previous >wheels< edit, the track conjures gloomy atmospheres and sparse rhythms with gritty synth melodies. on the top of it, the barcelonian producer adds dialogues from spanish cult art-house film >arrebato< (hence the title) multiplying the obscure ambience of the tune. once again, the release comes in a limited edition 10 inch wrapped in a handmade silk-screened sleeve. no digital and no-repress.

>univrs< follows on from and develops the concept of the album unitxt (raster-noton, 2008). whereas the focus of unitxt was on the processing of rhythmic patterns (unit = unit of measurement, element) and information (txt = data, language), with univrs the focus is on the conceptual differentiation of a universal language (universum/universal = unity, entirety). the 14 tracks of univrs have evolved from a live context, hence the approach is more continuous and dense.

pyramid is the third album by the alan parsons project and was originally released in 1978. the album contains numerous references to the egyptian pyramids, hence the name

label bosses are back in tandem for the sixth release on micropunto: wine ep, which also marks the beginning of micropunto schallplattens vinyl era. wine ep started as a back to back game after a spillage incident. ikkaku and d-gelo started producing two separate tracks in their respective stations and every half hour they swapped seats, building the tracks as they went along. the result is this musical experiment that sets the trend for all things to come from the micropunto clan. they spilled wine on me kicks in with a deep lead stab from the catacombs. the elements appear on the scene in a stride to resurface. it goes up then down, left, rigth, it gets dubby, then back in your face. in i spilled wine the beat unfolds steadily like a bulldozer coming up to the surface in search of the true sound. next we meet the preacher. with a subtle housy piano lead he puts us in the right track, reminding us that the dance floor is made of sand and we are on the rivers bank. listen to the flow. lord techno, you are my music. originally inspired from a dub tune featuring ras ajay from the spaceship sound crew in london,dubwine closes the triangle with a huge dub flare. fat subsonic bass and broad stabs make this track a serious contender on the dub techno charts. its the producers blink of respect to the reggae culture that has inspired them all through the years, hence the vinyl release.

hi-quality minimal dub/ambient techno by skyscaper & ekelon. comes on the likeable ghost sounds label (that always seem to be pressing less as what the demand is unfortunately... hence the zero stock on back catalogue). but lush long tracks with a foggy ambient piece on side a, and a more bright rhythmic dubby piece on the flip with beautiful strings and lush melodies. sweeet!

for this 10th wph release we looked towards belgiums finest raoul lambert aka raoul belmans aka one half of swirl people to follow up on his splendid wph blue b-side track 3 seconds released late 2009. raoul quickly sent us cinnamon dreams, the result of a long valencia-session with friend and fellow producer nacho marco, during which they apparently ate the whole spanish supply of belgian speculoospasta, a specialty that cannot be translated in english, but it contains cinnamon, hence the name of the track and the ep

xerrox vol. 2 undertakes an intense journey and affords the luxury to take its time. &#8233,,while xerrox vol. 1 (r-n 78) referred to the old world with its tradition deeply rooted in classical music, xerrox vol. 2 tries to access a new world . it works with samples that have been gathered and developed in the usa û the so-called new world û where the album also has almost completely been recorded.&#8233,,the dramatic and dynamic approach of xerrox vol. 1 on vol. 2 has been replaced by a structural density. instead of working with individual musical entities the new album rather develops an overall, linear aesthetic that refers to musical strategies of film music. hence there are no implicitly singular pieces, but open musical structures û a journey without a predetermined target.

the 2nd ep vinyl preview of the highly anticipated italoboyz full length bla bl bla (out in september) on mothership. not everyone is aware that both marco and fede migrated north to london from italy several years ago. this move has influenced their sound, hence the where is london? ep this ep also marks the start of their new live instrumentation work. where is london draws its title from a big ben sample put in reverse, but it also features experimental live piano work (piano strings struck with paper mallets) re-twisted into their addictive drum patterns. on the other side, lanagramme features salvador dalis voice and the interesting dual piano work of their good friend angelo. italoboyz are always pushing the boundaries and testing the limits of traditional dance-floor music and this is no exception.

to those of you who know your techno, shawn rudiman should be a well-known name. a prolific producer, he has nevertheless always kept his quality control on a tight leash, and releases on 7th city, technoir audio, integrated, dust science & matrix (amongst others) have brought him a reputation of being one of the finest producers around of contemporary detroit style (aka melodic) techno. a nice taster on the last minimalsoul release (sashimi hi) has hence led on to a full ep, and its classic stuff...tough beats and esoteric but catchy melodies all tied up with an expansive production ethic make for a great listen, and (perhaps unusually with this style of music) for a great dancefloor experience too!

the latest gigolo release is one for the summer! aptly titled hot it comes courtesy of ivano coppola and christian prommer, the former being one of italia s most respected dj s and the latter being, amongst other things, one of the main collaborators for hells critically acclaimed album teufelswerk. taking a sample from willie ninjas classic record hot and building a track around the chords and the vocal leads us to our starting point ivano coppola plastic mix!
ivano coppola has been the resident dj at milan s plastic club since 1992, so it is fair to say that he knows what works on a dance floor, or, to use a popular phrase, what is hot and what is not. it is with this historical knowledge that we find the genesis of our track. i found it necessary to go back in the past, to start producing once again in a 90 style - using samples. the next step was to come back into the future and reach out to christian prommer, highly respected by many including ivan i consider (christian prommer) one of the best producers of the moment! he loved the idea, the remix was huge, and so we decided to co-produce the record. simple!!!
but, for christian this was more then a remix, hence the co-production credit! i liked the idea of translating an early 90 s house-music-sample in to a sample-style-percussive-techno-tune. lots of live played drums and percussion in this one, of course. i only later learned that the sample we used is from one of my house music heroes, maws louie vega. naturally the record found its way into the hands of gigolo in the best way possible, and in the tradition of such a great record label – i played it at the gigolo night in munich and hell came to me dancing and took the tune into his heart.

dennis ferrers the world as i see it album is still being listened to and its tracks are still being played, hence the remixes are gonna keep on comin… one of the most memorable tunes from the album, run free, is seeing remixes by 2 very distinct and quality remixers oddly found at opposite ends of the earth. uks sean mccabe debuts his talent for king street after having had past remixes and productions released on soulfuric deep, fluential, device, soundmen on wax, tony records and more. his chunky beat-filled interpretation of this single has a tough enough bass drum and nice enough funky key jabs as to keep the great energy flowing but not overpower the song. japanese-nyc transplant producer tomo experience grooves and soothes the eardrum. his easy kicks and lightly bouncing bassline puts a nice spin on this tune, all the while kt brooks (r.i.p.) fervent vocal laying atop the 2 re-product ions. check out these cool remixes for great measure and greater flow.

beluga on the a-side is a an exciting mixture of old school house elements paired with pumping modern electronic house sounds jacked up with sophistication, perhaps hence the name >beluga<? >strobe< on b1 is an hypnotizing minimal loopy groove-monster and >u-bahn< on b2 takes you on a ride through the berlin tube system. your sound wagon passes several break stations, soundwise and figuratively. gui chose this name because it reminds me of the movement of an u-bahn while in berlin 7 years ago

alienus presents a new compilation comprising new and not so new faces on our beloved planet earth. this time, we would like to emphasize that truth is beyond consciousness and consciousness implies duality. consciousness would imply that one is conscious of the truth, hence separate from the truth. some wise humans reckon no one can know the truth, but can be in the truth. music wise, you will find some warm tones that evoke deep and ethereal feelings in the listener. it took us some time to pick specimens capable of delivering these highly sought-after emotions.

cd jewel case remastered by manuel gšttsching and released on his own label mg art. inventions for electric guitar is manuel gšttschings first solo album, recorded: july-august 1974. the album was written and performed entirely by gšttsching on electric guitar, hence the title. manuel played his guitar and used a 4 track teac a3340, revox a77 for echoes, wahwah pedal, volume pedal, schaller rotosound and hawaiian steel bar.

grassroots is by no means a political statement. it is true that this project has emerged from and was widely influenced by recent political and social events in ukraine that resulted in many people being wounded and killed. however, its only aim is to provide support and help to families affected by those events, hence music-driven charity project would be the most suitable description for it.
